Soul Dancer or Dancer as we call him, was brought in from a field with a blind Appaloosa. We had been encouraged by Sabrina to come to Sunnyside and see for ourselves what it was like. Knowing myself too well, I made the decision to first visit in a car do that we would not be tempted to make an impulsive decision. My son was looking for a horse for his wife and my youngest daughter had decided she needed a younger horse. Her best friend and riding buddy Hope, came with us. We wormy several hours looking around. I told Missy, my daughter, to put he hands on as many as possible to see which horse, if any, felt right. Scott, my son wandered around talking on the phone to his wife. He eventually found Polar the white mustang and spent a lot of time with her. As we were leaving tiny Hope drew my attention to this sad dark bay thoroughbred wit...

Almira - Other   August 16th, 2012

Meet Almira a three yr old paint mare that was going to be sent to auction. She came to our training facility as an untrained mare just basic handling and some what use to the halter. Almira has a big stone bruise so we had our professional natural barefoot trimmer come and work on this mare with the grinder. Almira didnt mind at all and was so good. The bruise has shed on its own and she feels perfect. She went through our eight week program to become a well trained horse. Now you can tie, clip, bath, saddle, bridle, trailer...and much much more. She has been to team sorting and loves working cattle. This mare has never bucked or cause any fights almira always wants to please. She has succeeded being placed in a home as a kids horse. The Cotten family is very excited to have this horse as a kids horse. Almira is in a loving home and ha...

Angel AKA ascot - Other      Ascot

we rescued angel from the sonny side kill pen, she was down on weight but still the sweetest horse. She is started under saddle, and we found out she is a rare amber champagne paint with a striking blue eye. She is one of our very first rescues and she made us want to make a rescue ranch cowboys and angels. Based on her and one of our special geldings, we now have 21 kill pen rescue horses. Angel is a doll and everyone in the family loves her, and angel loves people. For sure a diamond in the rut.

Annie - Other      Raggedy Anne

Annie was one of the last to be adopted from the group. Being older and possibly pregnant she wasn't one of the first choice picks :) My daughter and I had seen this rescue on the news and were following the auction posts every day, Annie just seemed so sweet and sad that we knew we had to give her some love and happiness! We had no history on her at all, most of the horses were not even halter broke, she had horrible feet, no hair on her legs from the knees down, extreme rain rot, and her bones were sticking right out of her she was so skinny. She had been covered in mud for so long that it was like cement all over her, including her tail. She was very friendly right from the start, she loves attention! She loves to be groomed and hasn't tried to kick or bite once, even when she had her feet trimmed (though she had NO idea what the farri...

Blossom - ESP   July 2012   107

I've been wanting a horse a long time, but just did not have the right situation to own a horse. I intended to go to a local auction or buy a horse off of CL, but I just fell in love with this girl at first sight. The videos and description people posted on AH, were very accurate. She is SO sweet! I can't believe she would end up at ESP.
Anyway, she arrived at her new home, July 30th, so not that long ago. She has adjusted to everything like a champ! She has had all her vaccines, dewormer, vet exam, float, mineral supplements, and real important: got her trim! She loves her new home and has already made friends with the 2 mini burros on the other side of the fence, Jordan and Rio. She is very social and loves to eat clover and carrots. The boarding stable is 10 minutes from my house, so I go over there everyday. In a couple of weeks, ...

Briar - ESP   05-02-2010

She was dropped off last minute and run through the ring loose. I had walked the barn numerous times and didn't see her once. No information was available for her. Auctioneer got down to $50 bucks then sent her out back. I went back later and bought her for $275.

She loaded right up and was easy to handle. Had a vet come check her out and he estimated her to be 4-5 yrs old and she was a little thin but otherwise healthy.

She was trained by a young girl and was absolutely amazing. She does everything her girl asks and they have done everything from trail riding in the mountains alone to jumping and even some non-competitive western gaming. This Mare is so incredible. She is great for anyone to ride. She was the main attraction at a 4 year old girls birthday party where numerous small children crowded her and sat on her. She...

Chance - ESP

We thought long and hard about purchasing an auction horse, and the week we decided to do it two horses came up listed that checked all our boxes. Well, the mare was sold before we were able to act on it, but "Amarillo" was still there. So we bought him through Sabrina, sight unseen, and through a friend of Sabrina's connected with a gal who offered to haul him to us from Eastern Washington. We named him 'Chance' since we knew we were taking a chance buying a horse we had never met! We ended up getting another mare from a rescue place on the east side as well and they both came the same day. Chance and I have worked through a few things, but being as I am a new horse person, they seemed rather small issues since I was able to work through them with him as a newbie. The biggest thing is he seems to think he is still a stallion when t...

Charity (Ever So Clever) - AH-Other   February 8, 2014   Ever So Clever

Ever So Clever had a rough start. Once we paid for this cute little mare, we found that we were going to have to wait a week or so to have her transported. We waited, and when Ever So Clever finally arrived, she was exhausted and ready to meet her new family. Unfortunately, she had to stay in quarantine for a couple weeks- she was NOT happy about that. She would gaze at the barn and call to the horses she knew were in that barn she could see. When someone would enter her paddock, she followed them around and just wanted to be near them. When everyone left her paddock, she would swing her head over the gate and watch them leave- it was heart breaking!
We searched and searched for the perfect name for this adorable mare until we finally came upon the name "Charity," which a source said meant hope, faith, and love. This was perfect for o...

Charlie - Other   12/15/15- 12/16/15   # Ugo

Charlie is his new name and we are pleased to give him a new home. Our family had been in search of a gelding pinto pony for our young daughter. We had searched and visited many adorable possibilities however they just didn't fit our profile. So when we saw this little guy, and saw he was in a kill pen, we just knew the 18 hour drive was more than necessary. We were so heartbroken to see him there, but our hearts filled with joy when we brought him home. It was love at first sight for our daughter and Charlie as they are the perfect match! Charlie has found his forever home with us...even after my daughter outgrows him. Auction Horses is definitely worth the visit and will be recommended to our friends and family...thanks to our new furry family member!

We are an Animal Rescue in Moses Lake. I was asked by a friend to go with them to check out a couple horses for their family. It was hard for me to agree, being a Rescuer and horse lover. I was raised on horses in Montana where they became very special to me at a young age. We picked up the two my friend wanted, but. This one paint just wouldn't leave me, and it was very clear that I couldn't leave him. His name now is Cheyanne and we ride everywhere. He has become very handsome and I thank God daily for taking me to Sunnyside that day!

Destiny - AH-Rehoming   2011

Destiny was listed on the AH board for rehoming. She had a club hoof and the owner felt she could not give Destiny what she needed. When she was originally posted , I contacted several people and asked if her club hoof would be something that could be"fixed" and gathered information. I responded and said I was interested and then I was told that the original owners friend was going to take her. I will be honest I was pretty upset, I had done so much to prepare. A few months passed and I was contacted by the "poster" and she asked if I was still interested in Destiny and of course I was. We went to see her and check out her hoof, they did reference checks and site check and a week later she was home.

He gets along with our other horses and is doing well under saddle, and I must say a fantastic mover! I offered to give Donald a permanent home, and a few days later, after numerous concerned people offered help, he arrived June 1st, 2012. He was pretty thin, probably about 200 pounds underweight. Eeeaster Elegance - ESP

Ellie is a 22 year old purebred arabian mare registered as Eeeaster Elegance. She is by JJ Saber (RHR Scimitar) and out of a mare by Statuss. She is a futurity money earning halter horse. She is rumored to have made tens of thousands in futurity money, and to have sold for $20k at one time in her life. As a youngster she fractured her leg after going to be broke and had surgery to "install" a plate and screws. She spent a year at a premier CA thoroughbred facility recovering.
Then went on to be re-started as a dressage mount. Came up lame and was retired to be a broodmare. She had one foal by Magic Dream as a 6 year old. Owner was unable to settle her in foal again so she became a little girls 4-H showmanship horse. She began exhibiting some minorly aggressive behaviors and thinking someone might be able to live cover her and get her i...

Flicker ESP April #693 Wish - ESP

Flicker is doing great. You cannot even tell that she is the same pony. She is 30 her teeth were horrible and of course worming. She was down to 325 pounds when we taped her. Dr. Vetter at Foothills Vet in Buckley has been a truly wonderful vet and great help in getting her back to what she is 9 weeks later. This included an emergency vet call at 11:30 at night for choking I thought I was going to lose her but he assured me I wouldn't and I am telling you she is just an awesome little girl. I often think about how many kids she must have grown with and trained to be able to ride. How many she inspired to be the horse people they are today. Frankie, aka Unlucky from Oct '14 ESP - ESP

After hearing that "Unlucky" was a very sweet little dun gelding, I called ESP on the very last day, thinking he would be spoken for already. But, lucky me, he was not and I got myself a 2011 QH gelding. Formerly named Colton, I renamed him to Colonel Frankie. Colonel because he stands at attention like a good little soldier, and Frankie in honor of my departed father, Frank, who always told me I should do what feeds my soul.

When Frankie arrived at Momofone's place, he was fuzzy and chubby but malnourished. His hooves looked ok at first glance, but they were very tender for several months. After several months of excellent care by Momofone, high quality food and Horseshoer's Secret, his hooves were hard and healthy.

I started riding Frankie a few months ago and he's progressing very well, considering I've only worked with...

I believe Gin (Redneck's Bar Tab is registered name) was the first ad I saw on facebook in the auction horse postings. For some reason I just felt she would be a nice horse and that she didn't deserve to be there. My friend went and picked her up for me, as I don't have a trailer of my own. I was very excited and when she got home I was more than pleased. She did end up with a mild case of strangles and was lonely during her quarantine period. Now that she is out with my other horses, she is doing great. She is being fed great supplements and has gained weight, which she lost from being sick and the stress of the experience. She seems to be well trained and appears she had been taken care of. I can't imagine why she ended up at auction, and then especially the Sunnyside lot??

Anyway, she is well loved now. If anyone knows ...

Grace - ESP   February 2011   Grey Qtr Type Mare

We were able to raise $500 bail through a "coordinated purchases" program in just a couple of hours to save her. Friends, acquaintances, and people I didn't even know contributed to save her.

She came with no name and no history. I loved her from the minute I set eyes on her; she looked exactly like the pony I had as a little girl in 4-H. We brought her home and named her Grace (from a suggestion of naming her Amazing Grace because she was the last one standing in the kill pen). She rushed to get out of "jail" and hopped right in the trailer. I was worried how she would fit in with my herd of three geldings, but she fit right in and they adore her.

Kali - ESP   September 2011   JG Keylypso

In September of 2011, our neighbor, who owns several of Kali's relatives and is very friendly with her breeder, called us to say that Kali was in the Enumclaw kill pen. The wonderful people on this board had used her registered name to contact Kali's breeder. Her breeder knew we had owned her for a very long time and was able to get a message to us through our neighbor and we were able to rescue her out of the kill pen.

In the five months she had been out of our care, she had lost a huge amount of weight. She was covered in bumps and bruises and her evaluation by members of this board showed that she was possibly lame and not fit to be ridden. Thankfully, she healed up from all of her injuries and is once again a healthy, happy, fat horse.

The only reason we were able to get her back is because of the efforts of the pe...

Luckylady554 - ESP   April 2012   554/Lady

Lady was one of the last horses still in the KP in April. We purchased her over the phone and picked her up on Easter Sunday morning. They say she was 6, but she is more like 16. "Lady Bug" as we affectionately nicknamed her, has a wonderful forever home now with her very own box stall, paddock and pasture turn out. Lady also has 3 other horse "friends", but she isn't particularly fond of any of them, but she does tolerate our Arab gelding, Skippy.

When we first got Lady home, I was afraid she would have to be euthanized, as she was lame in her near front from an old coronet band laceration which left her with a deformed hoof. She was also badly in need of a trim, wormy and obviously in need of good nutrition. So we set about getting her feet trimmed and correcting her parasite and nutritional problems; supplementing her fee...

River is a 20 year old black Shetland pony. When I got her at the auction she was a skinny, scruffy, mess with horrible hooves. I had no idea what her history was or if she would fully recover. Well, a few months of feed, hoof care, and dental care later River has blossomed into a normal pony. She is very timid with adults, but always tries her best to please even though she acts like she expects to be hit. With children, however, she is much more relaxed. Still, I had very little idea of what to expect from River as far as a riding pony - I didn't know if she was broke, or even if she was, when the last time she was really ridden was. Well, it turns out that River is a great little riding pony! She is now being loved on and ridden by an 8 year old girl and neither of them could be happier!

We were greeted by Don, quite an insightful and kind fellow, and he led us through all of the available horses. Of course, I spotted Secret from a mile away. She was surely a diamond in the rough. She does need a refresher, but that's ok she is an amazingly sweet girl and has had some really good training as far as ground manners. Not sure about being broke to ride since she seems overly nervous about the saddle, but we are working with her. Love this girl! Here are pictures of my son with her.

Windy 7-12 ESP - ESP

Wanted to let everyone know how thankful I am for having Windy back im my life. She is such a sweet mare... Even with her grumpy faces. She is happy and health now. I did breed her to my 20 year old stallion, Windy took on 1 cover!!! So all the bad things said about this mare was false...she is sound to ride as long as she has her boots on, and she will give me one more foal that will never be for sale. It will be an honor to have my old stallion and Windy's lines around longer. Windy's last foal is now living in Texas and showing on the AQHA circuit.

Winston - ESP   10/05/2014   Uproar # 032

I wanted to post a little update regarding this grulla stallion, who is no longer a stallion. This stallion was adopted at the Enumclaw auction 10/ 2014. I happen to be looking on craigslist about 5 months ago and found him for sale. He was at a boarding facility (still a stallion) , and impregnating anything that had 4 legs. He was not trained and basically used to breed. Long story short and $1500 later after a pre-purchase exam and everything under the sun done to him, he is mine. He is happy, casterated, and worked his way from the bottom of the pecking order of 22 geldings to 3rd from the top, depending on the day it could be as high as #2. He has a full time job working 4-5 days a week at the ranch. I had to post an updated picture of him as I had no idea he ended up at the auction before I bought him from a private party. M...

Wranglers Mercedes - ESP

Mercedes was underweight and full of worms and just in general bad health when we purchased her. Over the next several years, with a good diet, regular veterinary care and the help of a couple amazing trainers she has blossomed into one of the horses to beat at all of the local shows. My daughter has grown up with Mercedes and they are a great team. Watch for them at all the local 4-H and open shows!
