Kill Pen Horses

Current Yakima County Horses
Heiress - 2yr Bay Mare - $250

Heiress is a young bay filly. She comes with no history, but is probably a 1 or 2 year old. She is cute, well put together and not in terrible shape... but we don't know anything more about her.

AVAILABLE!
HardRock - 1yr Chestnut Quarter Horse Stallion - $285

HardRock is a young chestnut stud colt. At this time we are only seeing one testicle, but he is supposed to be a yearling so it is quite possible that the other has simply not dropped yet. He's curious, easy to handle and friendly. He appears sound, but his hooves do need trimming. He stands around 13hh.

AVAILABLE!
#19 Hudson - Chestnut Paint Mare - $435

Hudson is a chestnut grade breeding-stock Paint mare. She stands about 14.2hh and is very sweet and easy to handle. I didn't take very many pictures because she was supposed to have a hold and be picked up. That fell through obviously, as did back up hold. She is $435 including strangles vaccine. Her stall note reads "two-year-old breeding stock paint not registered. I got her from the March auction then shortly after I found out I have to move and I am losing my job. When I brought her home I gave her a five way vaccine and wormed her. She has had a blanket on, she is only halter broke. She is sweet but needs time. She has never offered to kick or bite. From what I was told she had only been in a trailer a couple of times before me getting her and she loads well. I would love to keep her but it's just not in my cards right now. I hope someone will get her and give her a wonderful home she deserves. She does have a hernia on her belly I was told it does not need surgery. I haven't had the chance to have a vet check it myself so that's going off of what I was told when I got her. It does not seem to affect her."

AVAILABLE!
#21 Homeboy - 22yr Liver Chestnut Gelding - $400

Homeboy is an older liver chestnut gelding. We are guessing him to be somewhere around 22 years old. He is said to be broke to ride, but we don't know what level of rider he would need. He stands about 14.2hh and is in decent weight but his feet are very overgrown. He was gentle, sweet, and easy to handle. He follows you around and is very well mannered. He appeared to be sound.

AVAILABLE!
#22 Hondo - 11yr Chestnut / White Arab Gelding - $450

Hondo is a chestnut and white grade part Arab gelding. He was said to be 11 years old and his teeth seem to back that up. He is also said to be broke to ride, but we didn't see this ourselves and we don't know what level of rider he takes. He stands about 15hh and is in pretty good condition. He appears sound, gets along well with others and picks up his feet nicely.

Hacki-Sack is a young bay Arabian mare. She is purebred but does not come with her papers and so is being sold as grade. AVAILABLE!
#66 HardLuck - 1yr Liver Chestnut POA Mare - $285

HardLuck is a little bay POA filly. She does not have her papers and is being sold as grade. This sweet little pony is scared and not doing well at the lot in with the big horses. She had a friend there, but her friend was sold. Then there were some folks who wanted her, but they backed out - then so did another set of folks. This little filly just can't get a break.

AVAILABLE!
Hot Stuff - Bay Thoroughbred Gelding - $600

Hot Stuff is a bay Thoroughbred gelding. We have not checked for a tattoo yet and he does not come with any papers. We do not know his age yet, but hope to be getting that info soon. Hot Stuff stands about 16.2-16.3hh and has shoes on all four feet. He is definitely halterbroke, and possibly broke to ride, but was not overly friendly. He appears to be healthy, sound and in good condition. He appeared to be a fairly dominate horse and would not let the other horses near the food.

Hoochie - White / Chestnut Paint Mare - $500

Hoochie is a white and chestnut grade paint mare. We don't have an official age on her, but we believe her to be young. She stands about 14.1hh and is in pretty good shape. She has been well maintained and her feet have been cared for. She is said to be well broke, but we haven't seen her ridden. She weighs 1162 pounds.

AVAILABLE!
#479 Holstein - 4yr White / Black Paint Mare - $450

They said that she was broke to ride and she does have shoes on her front feet. She was not great with the other horses and was kicky in groups and in confined areas. * Her price was changed due to a mistake on my part. She was previously priced for less than was paid. She weighs 1140 pounds.

AVAILABLE!
#13 Henderson - Black Gelding - $400

Nothing much is known about Henderson other than he is a smart boy, escaping going into the ship pen, and instead going directly into the pen of horses who have a chance at being rehomed. He appears to be a senior, although the angle of his teeth looks to be teenage. He has no Galvayne's groove and the teeth pictures turned out to be blurry unfortunately. He tolerates weight, is very easy to handle, and appears to be a been there done that type of horse. He has saddle marks and a very laid back personality. He appears to not have any visible lameness and in good condition other than needing weight and tlc. He also appears to have some old marks on his legs suggesting previous injury or wire cuts, but nothing that seems to affect his mobility. He is low in the pecking order and an all around very sweet horse who gets along with everyone. I did not tape him, but believe he stands about 14'3hh.

AVAILABLE!

#15 Hopeless - White / Chestnut Paint Gelding - $250

Hopeless is a white and chestnut grade paint gelding. We don't know his age, but this is a senior horse and is likely 25 years or older. He is in very bad shape and is severely underweight. He is on alfalfa and has bad diarrhea. He has a shaggy coat, some arthritis, and a blue spot in one eye. All the being said, this is a good old boy of a horse. He is a former dude horse and is very friendly. He has great manners, is super easy to handle and picks up his feet nicely. This kind boy needs a cushy retirement, not a hopeless feed-up before slaughter.

Hold on 4/24/2014 to Dana
#477 Harlem - Dark Bay Arabian Mare - $400

Harlem is a dark bay Arabian mare. She is purebred and we were told that she is from Khemosabi lineage, but she does not have her papers and is being sold as grade. Happilani - 2yr Buckskin Andalusian X Mare - $300

Happilani is said to be a coming 2 year old Andalusian Cross filly. She appears to be healthy and sound from what I can see. She has been on full feed since these pictures were taken and she is gaining weight. She appears to lead, is shy at first, but will soften and liked to be petted. She is ready to start being worked with and should be a nice little project. She stands about 14hh right now and is still growing.

Hold on 4/22/2014
#007 Hoagy Carmichael - 22yr Sorrel QH Type Gelding - $435

Hoagy aka Stormy was said to be a trail horse ridden by an 82 year old owner. He stands about 14'1hh and could use some tlc. He is my absolute favorite of this group and really is a very sweet and loving horse. He has a bombproof personality and wants to be your buddy. He is most likely very well broke and I would feel safe putting my own kids on him. He does have lice which are pretty easily treated and also has a hood crack and old injury that appears to be the result of a possible old wire cut . It does not appear to bother him at all and I did not observe any lameness resulting from it. Hoagy looks to be about 22 years young and although he doesn't seem to have much "go" he might be a perfect horse for a rider who wants to take it slow and steady. He loves attention, wants to be with you, and nothing seems to bother him. He's a nice horse. Hoagy has been vaccinated for strangles and his price reflects the $35 vaccine charge.

Hold on 4/19/2014 to Larry
Helena - Chestnut Arabian Mare - $400

This shy mare has been at the feedlot for some time. Helena came in thin and has gained weight. She appears to be a young Arabian but nothing is known about her and we do not have any history. She is possibly bred and has been exposed to a stallion. She is a beautiful mover and appears to be sound. I have not handled her as she has not wanted to be caught. Helena stands about 14'1-2hh. She has had a bit of eye goop probably resulting from hair in her eye but I have not been able to catch her to clean her eye. Her hooves are overdue for a trim, as would be expected.

Hold on 4/19/2014 to Dusty
Hot Toddy - 12yr Gray QH Mare - $450

She picks up her feet and they look to have been well maintained. She appears to be sound and I did not see any visible issues with her.

Hold on 4/19/2014 to Angela
Hidden Treasure - Red Roan QH Mare - $400

This sweet gal has been a career broodmare and may once again be bred. She is at least halter broke, leads well, and usually likes attention. She did not want to be caught to be evaluated but I have spent time with her in the past and she is a gentle and manageable mare. I will try and get an age on her when I go back, but if memory serves me right she is in her early teens. She stands about 14'3hh and although she could use some tlc, she is in decent condition.

Hold on 4/21/2014
Heart Stealer - Bay QH Mare - $400

She seems sound from what I can see and I have not seen any issues with her. She has been exposed to a stallion and is possibly recently bred.

He sands about 15hh and appears to be in overall good condition. I did not see any lameness or any visible issues with him other than a bump on his knee that didn't seem to bother him or lessen his mobility. His hooves are overdue for a trim but not bad.

This is a group of young fillies ranging from yearlings on up. They are curious and friendly but the younger ones did not want to be touched. They are priced by size, with the yearling types being $150, and the larger mare and oldest filly being $250. Not much is known about their history. The oldest filly is said to be a 2 year old but I have not looked at her teeth, nor done an eval on the larger black mare. They do all appear to be sound and in average condition, other than the largest mare who is in need of groceries and appears to have rain rot. She stands about 14'1hh.

Hold on 3/28/2014
#46 Freckle Snapper - 20yr Bay QH Gelding - $450

Hold on 3/28/2014
Fanny and France - Black/Gray Mare - $500

Fannie and France are a mare and filly pair that are being sold together. Fanny is smaller, around 13'3h and under 10 years old is what I am guessing by looking at her teeth. She has a bump on the right side of her face that may be dental related. France is said to be crossed with an Andalusian. Both appear to be sound. Fanny is said to be broke to ride but I do not know the last time she was ridden or what level rider she would take. The filly has halter marks and the mare also seems okay to handle but is not very cooperative about her mouth.

Hold on 3/19/2014
Froggy - Bay Roan Pony Stallion - $250

Froggy came in with no history and did not want to be caught. He has proven himself an escape artist and is good with cows. He did not want to be caught but did not seem to be afraid of people, only shy. Both testicles are visible. He appears to be sound and about 12hh.

HeBucks - 16yr Bay Quarter Horse Gelding - $700

HeBucks is a "Hail Mary" type of a listing that originally we weren't even supposed to list. HeBucks is said to be a 16 year old bay gelding. He stands about 15.3hh and weighs about 1400 lbs. His feet are long and need trimming. He is a super sweet gelding and that is what has bought him this chance at a listing. The previous owner sold this horse to the KB saying that he has recently started bucking. The KB did not want to sell a horse with that kind of a history, but the gelding was so sweet that Sabrina hopped up on him and rode him around at a walk. The KB has now agreed to let him be listed for tonight only and if someone wants to buy him they will need to sign a liability waiver that they know this horse has a history of bucking.

Sold on 4/22/2014 to Deanna
Hop - 5yr Black Percheron Mare - $800

Hip and Hop came into the lot together as a pair and are being sold individually. They had been tried as a team for driving but we were told they didn't like it. They have both been given a strangles vaccine.

#34 Hula - 7yr Bay Tobiano Paint Mare - $435

Registered as "Rebels Rayne Dancer" with APHA - Papers Available Hula is a sweet tri-color paint in need of a little TLC. Her hooves are in need of trimming and she could use a good grooming, but she will be a stunning beauty in no time. Her previous owners left this info about her: "Raynebow as we call her. She was foaled at our farm. She is a tri-color paint, but we registered her bay. She has unusual markings. She has been trained in her ground work using the Clinton Anderson program and is very willing. She likes people. She has been a pasture pet due to my injuries of breaking my pelvis and then having to have bilateral knee replacements. She loads, stands for the farrier, ties, bathes, and is easy to worm and bathe. She has had a saddle on at my home and did well with it. She has been lounged in a saddle with a 50 pound bag of grain on her back. No bucking, jumping or being stupid, just a real fast trot and then settled down. Her sire is standing in Australia at a show barn there. She is UTD on her vaccines and worming, with these being due May 18th for vaccines including West Nile and May 8 for her worming. She has no injuries or medical illnesses and is sound to my knowledge. I have not had any vet calls on her since her last check up at 6 months of age." There is a phone number I can pass on to her new owner. Hula was vaccinated for strangles at the lot and her list price includes the $35 vaccination charge. She stands about 14'2hh.

He appears to be sound and is in overall great condition. He has a curious personality and knows how to turn on the charm, which is what gave him a second chance rather than going straight into the ship pen, Hammy was vaccinated for strangles and his price includes the $35 vaccination charge.

I just got started when my owner lost his job. I was ridden twice in the arena. I was very willing to work. I want to continue training to build my confidence so I can become your partner for life. I'm good with other horses, but still a little shy around people. Help me find a good home."

She was very nervous, and was hesitant to pick up her feet bud did do so eventually. She stands about 14.1hh. She was said to be broke to ride, but has been just a broodmare for a while. #216 If Only - 4yr Black Donkey Mare - $200

This donkey jenny is black and appears to be around 4 years old and stands about 13hh. #216 and #217 came in as a pair and were run through the auction loose. These donkeys are perhaps a bit underweight, but their main problem is their feet. I don't think that their hind feet have ever been trimmed and they are extremely bad. The feet are very long and twisted and I'm not sure that there isn't permanent damage. Both donkeys were extremely scared at the auction and do not appear to be used to people. I was able to put a halter on both of them, but I don't think that they are halterbroke. I was also able to pick up the front feet of both donkeys, but they kick badly about their back feet. I do not think these girls have ever been handled much at all and they seemed to be very afraid. They let me handle them but it seemed to be more out of fear then anything else and they did not really relax even when just been petted and scratched.

#217 It Takes Two - 3yr Gray Donkey Mare - $200

This donkey jenny is gray and appears to be around 3 years old and stands about 13hh. #216 and #217 came in as a pair and were run through the auction loose. These donkeys are perhaps a bit underweight, but their main problem is their feet. I don't think that their hind feet have ever been trimmed and they are extremely bad. #204 Inferno - 9yr Bay Arabian Gelding - $400

This bay gelding was said to be an Arabian and his teeth look like he might be in the 8-10 year old range. He stands about 15.2hh and has a good build with long legs. He is very pretty and typey. His feet are large and pancaked, and he is skinny and appears to have lice. He was very nervous and tried hard but was very fussy and somewhat difficult to work with. We were not able to pick up his feet.

#206 Ishtar - 11yr Chestnut Arabian Mare - $400

This chestnut mare appears to be an Arabian in the 10-12 year range by her teeth. She is very skinny, her feet are long but appear okay other than that, and she probably has lice. This mare is super sweet and friendly. She is cute and very typey and stands around 14.3hh although she seemed smaller because she is dainty. She does pick up her feet but wasn't great about it. She seemed to really like people.

#218 Icarus - 16yr Gray Thoroughbred Gelding - $400

He stands about 16.1hh, has a slight roman nose, and has a scrape on his face. He is very skinny, but was calm and well mannered other then not liking to have his teeth looked at. #208 Indiana - 7yr Varnish POA Mare - $400

This varnish POA mare was probably once a bay with a snowcap. She is reported to be 7 years old and her teeth look consistant with that. She has a good build, was in good shape and appears to have been taken care of other then a little rain rot on her back. She was reported to be a family pet and no information was given about her being broke to ride. She is extremely friendly, but was a bit pushy and rude. She led nicely but she did not like being in the stall and was impatient for someone to take her out. She has appy eyes, but they appear to be perfectly fine. All in all this seems to be a really nice little mare who has simply been a little spoiled and is ready for some training.

#222 Ice Cream - 16yr Chestnut Quarter Horse Mare - $400

This chestnut mare was said to be 16 years old, however her teeth look younger to us - possibly around 11 years old. She is either a Quarter Horse or a breeding stock Paint. She is slightly underweight and her feet are a bit long, but overall she seems to be in pretty good condition. She does have a scar on her left hind hock but it didn't seem to bother her, although we only saw her at a walk. She stands about 15hh and is a flaxen chestnut with three socks and a blaze. He was very calm and good to handle other then she did not like her teeth looked at. She was said to be broke to ride, but to have been at pasture for 3 years and so needing a tune up. Her tail hair has been chopped off.

#215 Immortal - 10yr Black Friesian Cross Gelding - $500

This big black gelding was brought in with no history other than that he bucked his owner off. He does have white scars from a cinch, so it is obvious that he has indeed been ridden. He stands about 15.2hh and we are guessing him to be around 10-12 years old. He looks to be a Friesian crossbreed, but of course that is just judging from his appearance. He is very good looking, with a nice build, cute head, and slight feathers. He was very well mannered and responsive. He was calm and respectful at all times and did everything that we asked him to do. Leads, ties, backs, picks up feet, yields quarters, etc.

Honey Bee - Gray Arabian X Mare - $400

This mare has been a resident with a recovering shoulder injury. Her injury is now healed and she is waiting to ship. Nothing is known about her. She appears to be sound and walks and trots with no visible lameness resulting from the injury. She stands about 14'3hh and appears to be an older mare. She was easy to handle when she first arrived months ago but has since become more weary of people and I do not have an age at this time. She appears to be an Arabian type but has some feathering on her feet. She has also been bred by a bay stud with 4 white socks.

Holly Berry - 18yr Bay QH Type Mare - $350

Holly Berry stands about 14'3hh and is in need of some tlc. She has been bred by a bay stallion with 4 white socks. She is said to be an 18 year old kids horse and well broke to ride. Herman - 29yr Black QH Gelding - $350

Registered as with AQHA - Papers Unavailable Herman is said to be broke to ride and a kids horse who has many miles under him and a lifetime brand card because he was taken all over on the trails. His AQHA reg. # is 2351969 ID 0886924. He was sold as a 2 year old in 1987 and has been with the same people ever since is what I was told. I would expect him to have some age related arthritis, but he did not have visible lameness issues. He has been at the feedlot gaining weight since these pictures were taken a week ago, but he will need some tlc and a farrier appointment for his overgrown hooves. He stands about 14'3hh. Herman picks up his feet, is easy to handle, and had a pleasant attitude.

Hoofsie - 6yr Strawberry Roan QH Type Mare - $400

Hoofsie has not only stolen my heart, but just about everyone else's that comes to the lot. Her hooves are a mess. I'm listing her because so many people have requested and because I think she would be a great farrier project. She has one foot that is apparently clubbed and the other front hoof is very long. She actually walks okay and even trots with ease despite the horrible condition of her feet. Hoofsie stands about 14'2hh and is at a good weight and otherwise appeared healthy. She came with a group of horses that were said to be broke to ride but I do not know if it applies to her and hope that she wasn't ridden in her condition. Hoofsie is very sweet, gentle enough for anyone to handle, and will give you her feet when you reach for them. She doesn't mind if you lay with her while she's napping and seems to be very trusting of people.
