DescriptionTess was a community RB horse who's owners could no longer take care of her and whom no one else wanted to take in and give a home to.
Here is the write up that JLehman did for her:
I took Tess up to the Olympic Game Farm today. She was a very sweet old chestnut mare, said to be 30. We know very little about her other than she's been handed around and not cared for very well since sometime last spring. She had heavy bone structure and may have been a trail or mountain horse of some kind. It's also been suggested that she might have been a kid's horse due to her calm nature.
Tess was underweight, losing her teeth, and had diarrhea. She also seemed very low in energy, which could have been due to any of the above, possibly in combination with old age. She had been advertised at least twice for weeks and no one ever seemed interested in her. Before we took her, she had been standing out in pasture with another horse (Sally) with no shelter and no regular food. We decided putting her down was the kindest option.
I left her at the game farm in a paddock with another horse, one that they keep specifically to provide company and keep the horses calm. The paddock is away from the game animals, up by the owner's house. When the time comes, she will be put down humanely by a bullet.
RIP, sweet girl.
