DescriptionPoe is a black and white Half-Arabian mare. At this time we do not know her registration and so she should be considered grade. She was said to be in her late teens to early twenties, but her teeth look older then that to me. Poe stands 14.3hh and is in extremely poor shape. She has assorted scrapes, cracks in her hooves and her knees seem to be slightly arthritic, but her main problem is that she is emaciated. Poe will need special rehabilitative care in order to recover, but it will probably be mostly just an issue of feeding her often and correctly as well as keeping her from getting too wet or cold. She is up to date on her vet care and in fact just had her teeth done two weeks ago (the vet did say she had a couple loose teeth). Poe was very docile, sweet and gentle when we were handling her. She is halter broke, leads, backs, picks up her feet, allows her mouth to be messed with, and is just generally easy to handle.
