DescriptionThis youngster came in with no information. We have photos of her teeth for you to take a look and make a guess on her age. She stands around 13.3-14.0 hands but appears to still be "butt high", so there is a chance that she isn't finished growing yet, and may get taller. I would guess that she is more of a sun bleached black than a true brown. She is halter broke and she did very well in hand. She wasn't real keen on having her feet messed with, initially she wanted to stomp her foot back down but she gave that up after the second attempt. Almost like she wasn't sure what I was asking her, but she seemed to figure it out pretty quickly and then was fine. I spent quite a bit of time walking her around and she is very respectful of your personal space. She is also pretty thin, and could use some TLC. She is going to be a real beauty once she gets all cleaned up! Quite surprisingly, she pinned her ears and snaked her head at us when we approached to catch her while she was eating. While in the pens awaiting sale the day before, she was shy but would approach us curiously and then hide behind the horse she came to the sale with. So, what we were seeing today stopped us in our tracks, while we scratched our heads. Think about this; these horses are strangers to each other, the day of the sale is chaotic for most of them, it was probably only minutes before we arrived that all these horses were placed together in this pen, and then fed. She didn't want to lose her spot at the feeder! I ignored her nasty looks and got the lead rope around her, then haltered her without any more dirty looks. In most of her pictures I believe that dirty look she has on her face has more to do with the bad, gray, dripping wet weather than any ill feelings about being worked. (If you notice their profile pictures; most of the other horses wore that same expression while out from under the shelter) She has some noticeable rain rot and we found several ticks on this little girl.
